Sabzevar to Erect a Monument for Nizam ul-Mulk

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- A monument in name and memory of the scholar and politician Khwaja Nizam ul-Mulk in his birthplace Nazlabad Village, Sabzevar, Khorasan Province is to be set up.

The monument is designed by Iranian experts, artists and architects at the Architecture College of Sabzevar Teacher Training University, said head of Sabzevar Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Hamidreza Edalatmanesh added that the monument will be constructed in a form to reflect personal characteristics and main role of Khwaja in the history and culture of the country.

Khwaja Nizam ul-Mulk was chancellor at the time of Alp Arslan and Malik Shah of the Seljuk Empire. He commissioned many large schools named “Nezamieh” in Neishabour, Balkh, Baghdad, Tus and Herat in which great scientists were trained.

After 30 years of chancellorship, Nizam ul-Mulk was murdered in Nihavand on his trip with Malik Shah from Isfahan to Baghdad in 1092.
